Precious resources of this century-wasted

DNA Mumbai 25.12.2009 "Civic authorities are pushing for a further cut in water supply in Mumbai. This was revealed by the (BMC) Commissioner, Swadheen Kshatriya. The BMC has proposed a further 10% water cut. The proposed cuts will be effective from January 15. Currently the cut stands at 15 per cent. One person had died after the police lathi-charged hundreds of people led by a Congress leader protesting against water cuts in Mumbai on December 3." The above article was an eye opener in terms of the water situation of the city and also how it was being politicized. Just about 2 months from this article,at the junction of S V Rd and Juhu Lane, in the course of digging, the Main Water line was damaged. Water started gushing out in great force. Traffic came to a stand still for 2 hours! I do not know how many million gallons of precious water was wasted. Even during heavy monsoon, this part of S V road does not get flooded like this. I could manage some pictures.
