Madh Island Jetty

Those who are familiar with Mumbai know of and have sometimes visited Madh Island- which is in the extreme North-west. To reach Madh Jetty, one has to drive up north to Malad, go east to Marve and then keep going down south past Marve, INS Hamla, Aksa beach, The Resort and Retreat, Erangal Beach and then Madh. The Madh Jetty is the extreme south of this peninsula. Its therefore foolish to take this route.
It takes 5 minutes to cross over from Versova Jetty to Madh Jetty, and the charge is rs.2/-

There are plenty of auto-rickshaws at the Madh Jetty side, which run without meter. Negotiate the rate and they will take you to The Resort, Retreat or to the Aksa/Erangal beach. There is not much at this jetty, except plenty of fishing boats, different size and shape.

There is a very spooky tree....all hollow
can walk through it!

but about 5 klm away, there is a Shiva Temple which is on a hill right under the Madh Fort. The view from there is beautiful. The Temple is said to be 300 to 400 years old.

Towers of Versova look very close
Plenty of dry-fish around. That seems to be the main occupation.
The Temple does not have many visitors, as it is far away and only those with vehicles come here.
It has an area for bird feeding. Monopolized by Crows and Dogs.
A lone monkey seems to have settled down in this place, and is very friendly with all.

  1. The monkey seems to have a paint brush in his hand. Is he a part of your troop? :P
