Annual Bonsai, Flowers and Vegetables show

All the time we blame Mumbai Municipal Corpn (MMC) for everything.  Bad roads,

unregulated transportation,

filth,

 potholes, open man-holes,
 lack of street tights etc.
In short, for everything that does not work in this city.
Surprisingly, and with due credit to MMC, the annual Flower/Veg show is a fairly well organised . It attracts thousands of people from all over Mumbai.
The show is not on small scale and well managed.
Of course, it gets support from various organizations like Western / Central Railways, Godrej, Tata Power and so on. There is a good collection of Bonsai

Some very interesting Cacti

Vegetable s and fruits....

And of course beautiful Flowers...

A job well done ( for a change ) by MMC.

Madh Island Jetty

Those who are familiar with Mumbai know of and have sometimes visited Madh Island- which is in the extreme North-west. To reach Madh Jetty, one has to drive up north to Malad, go east to Marve and then keep going down south past Marve, INS Hamla, Aksa beach, The Resort and Retreat, Erangal Beach and then Madh. The Madh Jetty is the extreme south of this peninsula. Its therefore foolish to take this route.
It takes 5 minutes to cross over from Versova Jetty to Madh Jetty, and the charge is rs.2/-

There are plenty of auto-rickshaws at the Madh Jetty side, which run without meter. Negotiate the rate and they will take you to The Resort, Retreat or to the Aksa/Erangal beach. There is not much at this jetty, except plenty of fishing boats, different size and shape.

There is a very spooky tree....all hollow
can walk through it!

but about 5 klm away, there is a Shiva Temple which is on a hill right under the Madh Fort. The view from there is beautiful. The Temple is said to be 300 to 400 years old.

Towers of Versova look very close
Plenty of dry-fish around. That seems to be the main occupation.
The Temple does not have many visitors, as it is far away and only those with vehicles come here.
It has an area for bird feeding. Monopolized by Crows and Dogs.
A lone monkey seems to have settled down in this place, and is very friendly with all.

Majesty of CST!

In my opinion, one of the most awesome buildings in Mumbai is V.T. (or CST building, as now known ). Amazing grandeur, magnificent Architecture..I feel at a loss for proper adjectives for this building. Look at it from any angle, any point or perspective- and it has something amazing and interesting to offer. I wish I could walk up the spiral stairs that would lead to the main dome or walk the corridors with intricately carved arches. Since I am not a VIP, I could not do that, I had to restrict to the pavement level and be happy! Nevertheless, is was enjoyable.
Another beautiful piece de Resistence in Fort area is the Flora Fountain.
And as you walk up to Flora Fountain from CST, there are many beautiful buildings on both sides of the road. Don't miss them.
There is always an eminent Parsi at a prominent place
master piece of stone carving
This peacock  carving reminds me of one at Ahmedabad
This one is ready to leap
Can the MMC commissioner not do anything about these eyesores?

This is outside one of the Agyaris  on DN Rd

The Fountain built in 1860
Named after Roman Godess "Flora"

now poorly maintained.......by an eco friendly corporate
